Origins and development of the Ambulance Service in Maitland
The Maitland Ambulance Station was founded in 1924 in High St, later being moved to Rutherford. Its early development was based on public subscriptions, not government funding.

Back to Maitland 1927
A ‘Back to Maitland Week’ was organised in 1927 to raise funds to build a new home for the Maitland District Ambulance Brigade and its vehicles.
